Market to Market V3

A beautiful day was promised and delivered this year for the Market To Market Relay October 9th... Remember last year we had our first snow of the year with nearly 3 - 4 inches of snow on the ground in Omaha making the race memorable but cold and wet. What followed was a very cold October 09.

This year Ben Cohoon and crew added additional teams for nearly 240 teams total each with 6-8 members. That's a lot of people. Fit people. Love it. How cool is that? Pretty cool. It was broken down into 4 waves starting at 6:00am and our wave, the last wave was @ 8:15. Your starting wave position was based on the teams predicted finishing time we got a 8:15 slot.

This year our downtown running group had two groups, the Master group over 40 (red team) and a younger group we called the JV's (Blue team). Pretty sweet our Fearless leader Scott Wieskamp managed to get our entries paid this year for both groups through sponsorship from Lincoln Running Co / Ann, Pepsi Bottling Co / Dave, and Cycleworks / Kris - Thanks guys that really helps, totally appreciate it.

Both groups got off to a great start, with the JV all stars out to a quick gap on us old guys. They were in the hunt for a really good overall finish and would battle back and forth with some total studs in the Open group. They would eventually finish 4th overall and 2nd place Open finish with a time of 8hr44min and some change @ 6:12 per mile pace. Our masters group also got off well and managed a consistant pace the whole race. We too battled a Masters group with some excellent runners on team Twitching Road kill. In the end we would win the Masters title with a time of 9hr 8 min - 8th overall @ 6:28 pace for the 84.79 miles.

I can't say it enough...this event is a blast. Just an epic day with friends and sense of accomplishment. What a great group of guys.

It's funny, but these guys keep me psyched to come to work everyday because I know I've got a great Lunch workout with some accountability built in every day. Best employee motivation you could ask for...I think everyone should figure out how to make something like this part of their day.
