BO lake

For months there has a been a group of folks hitting the Area 7 Branched Oak Mountain bike trails after work.  Last night, I blew off the Bridges crit practice and took the kids out to the Lake to ride the trails a bit to hook up with some new faces and ride the MTB.  Couple reasons, first, burned out on the road bike, second, Noah and I will be doing the BOLT - Branched Oak Lake Triathlon XTERRA in a few weeks so we needed some MTB time.  Abigail unfortunately will be sitting out the rest of the events that involve running the rest of the summer in and effort to heal her shins up.  Last week we took her to an orthopedist because she was just not getting better and was limping around everywhere.  They are calling it a stress fracture...it is what it is...she couldn't run anyway without pain so it is necessary to take some time off.  She did do the Cornhusker state games Tri, but it was a Du for her, where she did the swim and bike and came into transition on the bike in first for the Jr Women, but took the DNF for not taking off on the run.  Good training all the same.

Anyway Noah, Abigail and I did some laps on the trail last night.  Paul C. and Janna V. showed along with Joel and we rode a couple laps with them and then later with Gersib and Wills...Think that was it...Smitty was there too, but didn't ride with him.  Trails were in pretty good shape considering how dry its been...lots of dust, and the open prairie section has gaping cracked canyons developing on the trail.

Noah high sided and rode the bike into the ground on a downhill troughed out trail.  He was pretty dirty and sore.  The plan was to grab some food on the way home but we were all so sweaty and dusty we weren't sure what to do to get cleaned up, so we decided to go for a swim...why not...it is a lake and we had our swim gear.  So we traded the Dust for Muddy water.  Actually swimming along the dam at Branched Oak is fairly refreshing.  Must be because it deeper there.

Noah even rid himself of the grumpiness after the dip.  Ah Summer...
