Lincoln X weekend - Pioneers Park

What a great weekend. Midwest Wheelmasters under the helm of T Krause put on the Annual Lincoln Cross weekend at Pioneer Park. We were blessed with awesome fall weather that brought out racers and spectators alike. Hooligan hill was full swing. What fun...Love seeing the park getting utilized and the cycling community coming together for a fall winter send off.
The crew began work on Friday setting up the course...won't go into it here, but it takes a bunch of work to groom a course that is suitable and, I might be biased here, one of the best courses around.

TP on his was to winning the Masters 40+ on Saturday. S Songer below.

It turned out to be a very busy weekend for the family. We had the Price - Campbell family spending the night, the Turkey Trot at Lincoln memorial cemetery sponsored by the Cooper YMCA, the HLA swim meet and the Cross weekend and Abbi's JR high Basket ball game. Noah nearly got a little taste of everything...Kids got to be toast today. Here he is in the Cross race on Sunday. Tom P let him borrow his X bike and Noah ripped it good. The Jrs lined up with the Cat 4's and in the end Noah was 6th overall and 1st Jr. He was super excited and I was totally impressed...kid is on a roll

Lots of great battles yesterday in the 1-2-3 race. I didn't capture them all... Here Chad Carpenter...AKA the Dentist battles with Matt T.

The battle of the day though was not for First (Brian Jensen and Shad Schreiner came and had their way with the field both days with Brian taking first each time.) but for State Championship Bragging rights between Troy, Jessie Peterson, and Matt Farnham. They spent all day turning the screws on each other.

In the end Jessie would not rely on his sprinting prowess, but attacked up the grass climb creating a gap to hold onto 3rd overall and State Champion status. Matt Farnham would come in 4th and Troy would roll in 5th...not bad considering how much stress and energy he put into this weekend...Kudos my man!

Me? I did manage to PR on the Turkey Trot 5K as did Noah, and watching the folks race cross on Saturday lit a fire in the belly to race on Sunday. I man'd up for the 40+ race eeked out 5th overall and the Silver medal...that was fun. Good Job Winkelpleck for the Gold and R Crist for having a super race pulling back the leader on the last lap to take the win and Gold 50+.
