Climbing Hill, IA - Twin Bing

Climbing Hill, IA...actually has a fairly big hill just west of town that was scene for the Twin Bing Road race sponsored by Sioux City Velo and sponsored by Twin Bing Cherry mash candies made by the Palmer Company. The hill itself was witness to some fireworks - cyclists blew and exploded as the Category 1-2-3 field made 4 trips up it including to the finish which resided on the top of the hill. Surely this course lends itself to the hard man that can ascend well, not only on the Climbing Hill, but also the remaining course covered by rolling hills. 3 laps were made, 68 miles...Although I couldn't check, my computer bit it right before the race and I had to remove it. Midwest wheel master Aaron Pool was the victor and my teammate. Aaron was riding extremely well last Wednesday, and during the race looked very at ease with his casual smooth spin up the climbs.

The field was withering from the climbing and the fairly stiff wind which had the field strung out on the line for much of the race. With about 3/4 of a lap to go, Aaron was able to capitalize on a move by Cody McCullogh Sioux City Velo and they quickly got about 20 sec on the field, Jarred Osterloh of All Nine Yards, a DesMoines, IA team, and Devin Bethune from Team Elkhorn Valley a local from the Norfolk Region soon bridged across to create a 4 man break. The Break quickly established a sizable gap with each of the breakaway members represented well within the field.

It came down the final climb to the finish of the Climbing hill and as the cross the line, Aaron was able to hold the 3 companions at bay to the line taking his Victory. Bringing home the field was Greg Shimonek from Omaha Team Trek - out of the Trek Omaha / High Gear stores. Greg's teammate Kevin Limpach was the hardest working man of the race, and should have gotten the most Aggressive rider award.

This is what the hill felt like to me...Who can tell me what course this is...I'll give you a hint. TPrice has possibly more Master victories than any in the history of the race...Maybe...Another hint -Everyone owes it to themselves a trip to these races at the at the end of May.
