Prostate awareness trail run

Yesterday Darin, Paul and I went out and did the 4 ish mile Wilderness Park XC trail run. It was organized by Rose Paolini and Jim Craig under Jim's new Angry Cow Adventure series. Rose and Carl, her husband, and Jim have been putting in time with Parks and Rec working towards trail advocacy. Carl has been doing a bunch of trail maintenance with permission of the Parks dept and there have been several organized trail repair crew sessions.

This quite the coo to have a running race out in Wilderness by permission from the City. I'm guessing about 30 people showed up for the fun.

The run is in support of Prostate Cancer awareness. A NOT so hot topic among Males my age..um 40+ and over. Message was to get a digital Prostate check when you turn forty and monitor there after. It sucks...but fact of leading a healthy life.

The trail was a little soft given the snow/rain melt during the last few weeks. Even on the edges in the grass is was soft in a few places, but that made the run fun in a slippery sticky ankle rolling pick the best line sort of way.

TJ H won, Darin pulled a second. Paul and I were running 4th and 5th pretty much the whole way. With about 1.5 miles go go, we popped out on the Jamaica and saw someone a few hundred yards in front of us. Felt like a bike race a bit at the end when we saw the guy coming back to us. We managed to chase him down and sling shot by near the end as we went under Pioneers. Slight miscalculation on my part because I thought we finished with a turn into the parking lot...Nope, had to do the finishing loop...I blew. Paul used the momentum to come around me as did the guy we chased down. Paul held on for 3rd, Guy 4th, me 5th. Good time. There's a lesson in there to check out the finish for future reference.

Today Jay T, M Anderhammer and I did a BO lake ride. Bit breezy out there for these tired legs today. Both guys giving it gusto.

On the way in Hammerson was gassing it...yes, that's 30.5 mph
